Ernsberger founded his consulting practice after a highly successful 32-year career at IBM Corporation, where he was recognized as a highly valued, innovative leader and partner to all of IBM’s customers. His last assignment at IBM was Group Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Support, Technology Group. In this position, his responsibility included worldwide revenue and gross profit for five technology divisions, which included semiconductors, disk drives and storage subsystems, liquid crystal displays, networking technologies, and technology design and integration services. Under his leadership, the Technology Group’s revenues grew from $500 million in 1993 to over $10 billion by the end of 2000. Key accomplishments leading to this extraordinary growth were the building of a highly motivated global organization, a network of business alliances with several of the largest OEMs in the IT industry, and the development of a world-class distribution partner structure.

In late 1996 and 1997, Ernsberger served as Vice President of the Storage Division and had P&L responsibility for the disk drive business line. During this period, the disk drive business line was one of the largest growth and profit contributors in IBM.

Additional assignments during his IBM career included Vice President of the Western U.S., Regional Manager for Texas and New Mexico, Director of Large Systems Marketing for the U.S., and numerous other sales and service leadership positions.

Dave also served as a member of IBM’s Senior Management Group that provided senior direction to all of IBM’s global businesses.
